Established in 1954 and managed by a third generation, the Italian mill specialises in the production of high performance technical fabrics. Kestin was originally attracted to its water repellent unique texture, reminiscent of military fabrics but with a modern technical edge.

Our paisley is sourced from a Japanese mill steeped in history and founded in 1751, with its origin rooted in the Kimono garments business. The Paisley Pattern can be traced back to the Indo-European cultures of 2,000 and more years ago. In Britain the pattern is represented in Celtic art, which died out in Europe under the influence of the Roman Empire. It wasn’t until the 19th century when the print gained its modern name, paisley. The Scottish town of Paisley became the leading producer of the Kashmir-inspired shawls, and therefore the buto print became known as paisley. Contrary to common belief, the design didn’t originate in Scotland – though, if you were to visit the town you won’t be surprised to see that the shops and cafes are heavily draped in paisley.

The heavyweight tonal jacquard is inspired by Americana traditional textiles, and blankets and has a soft, durable handle. Fused with colour references from Kestin’s homeland in Scotland, this cloth is woven in one of Portugal's most prestigious mills, a cotton specialist founded in 1958.

Produced in one of Scotland's best knitwear factories to the highest standards in Annan, Dumfries with 2, ply 100% Shetland wool on seamless 5gg machines. Pure Shetland wool can be the finest of British breed wools and we select the finest we can find, so our Shetland yarns are particularly soft.
