Our Own Tartan

10 Year Anniversary Exclusive

2025 marks a special milestone for us. To celebrate ten years of KESTIN, we’ve designed and registered our very own tartan with the Scottish Register of Tartans.

The idea started with something close to home. Kestin’s dad had a Gordon tartan kilt, and it became the spark for creating something that could connect past and present. We wanted a design that felt timeless, rooted in heritage but with the balance, subtlety and restraint that speaks to our brand today. It’s about continuity - a kilt once worn by his father inspiring a tartan that future generations will carry forward.

We spent time at the National Museums Scotland Tartan Archive, digging into what makes a tartan work. The mathematics of sett widths and colour ratios, the balance of space and line - it’s as much science as it is art. From there, we worked with our long-time partners at Lochcarron of Scotland to weave the final design.

The colours reflect our house palette and the landscapes we return to for inspiration: dark navy and forest green for the sea and forests, sky blue for Scotland’s open horizons, soft ecru for light breaking through. Together, they echo the contrasts of our homeland - coastline to forest, sea to sky.

For us, tartan is more than design. It’s about connection and belonging. A way to root ourselves in Scotland’s long history of making, while creating something contemporary that feels right for now.

Ten Years, One Tartan

To mark the launch, we’ve introduced two special pieces into our Made in Scotland collection: the Selkirk Scarf and the Ashkirk Blanket, both woven in our new tartan.

Each is made with care by skilled craftspeople, designed to be worn, used and passed on. This tartan is about permanence - a piece of our story woven into Scotland’s.
