Behind the Blend: Loch Bay
To celebrate ten years of KESTIN, we wanted to create something personal. A whisky that captured a memory, a landscape, a feeling.
Working with Woven Whisky in their Leith studio, we set out to translate memory into flavour. Co-Founder and Whisky Maker, Pete Allison, guided the process — but the inspiration came from closer to home.
“Skye is a place I return to for grounding and inspiration. Wild coastlines, salt on skin, the drift of woodsmoke in the air. There’s even a name for the calm it brings — ‘Skye time’.” – Kestin Hare
Those memories became the backbone of the blend. Coastal brightness. Woodland pine. Earthy smoke. From there, layers of sea foam, orchard fruits and a touch of peat were added. Each note chosen not just for taste, but for the emotions it carried.
The result is Loch Bay — a whisky that’s complex yet approachable, designed for slowing down, sharing, and reflecting.
A whisky that echoes Skye. A collaboration built on shared values: craft, authenticity and a sense of place.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Pale gold
Nose: Sea foam, pine and heather smoke
Palate: Green apple, lemon zest and white pepper, unfolding into earthy smoke, peach skin and charred wood
Finish: Warming with spice, soft peat and a gentle fade
Only 100 bottles have been created, with 50 available exclusively at wovenwhisky.com, priced at £50. Limited numbers will also be available to taste at our Edinburgh flagship store.
